Disability Service Workers and Disability Services Practitioners/Team Leaders

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Weekend, Day, Evening

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience, education, and position.($14.50-$16.00). Team Leader ($18-$22)

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Education: Prefer completion of high school, specialized training courses in disability services and some sign language skills

Credentials Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), Medication Administration, First Aid/CPR Certificates and Abuse Protocol Training

Experience: 1 to 2 years

Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English

Target Groups or Clients: Persons with developmental disabilities, and or mental illness, brain injury, including non-verbal people and individuals with complex behavioral challenges

Specific Skills: Assess client skill strengths and development needs, implement behavior management programs, provide personal services support to persons with special needs, assistance with personal care, some sign language skills

Additional Skills: Household management, safe food handling, Knowledge of Best Practice Guidelines

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced, dynamic environment, all individuals ambulatory

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, own vehicle, valid driver license an asset, but not required. Million dollar liability insurance if transporting clients in vehicle

Work Location Information: Work in client's home and in the community

Ability to Supervise: 1 to 2 people

Security and Safety: Prior to hire,Criminal Record Check (within last 6 months), Child Welfare Record Check

Essential Skills:  Oral  and written communication, working with others, and independently, problem solving, advocacy, continuous learning
